Diane Von Furstenberg
has long been a spokesperson for American Express
and for February 2009 Fashion Week, Ms. Von Furstenberg
and American Express treated select card members
to a private fashion show in the Tents at Bryant
Park. The show was hosted by André Leon Talley,
editor-at-large for Vogue magazine.
The show's focus
was mostly on Furstenberg's Spring/Summer 2009 line
(the clothes the card holders would be wearing for
both winter in the Caribbean and summer). Ms. Von
Furstenberg also showed a smattering of her Fall
2009 line (click
here for the Diane Von Furstenberg Fall 2009 Show).
The Spring/Summer
2009 line was the perfect impetus for socialites
to release their inner rich- hippie-in-Ibiza vibe.
White, frilly, flowery and fun, the clothes floated
down the runway and into the suitcases of fashion
forward travelers.
Here is a quote from
the press release about the show: “As a designer,
it is very gratifying to share my design inspirations
and engage directly with customers,” said
Diane von Furstenberg. “Through my partnership
with American Express, I can provide Cardmembers
with a look behind the curtain -- how a collection
is made, how the runway impacts next season’s
inventory, how pieces may be paired – both
bringing them closer to my creative process and
encouraging them to re-imagine their wardrobe.”
American Express will donate proceeds from the sale
of event invitations as part of its $250,000 donation
to the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund (CVFF), a program
(of the CFDA) to help emerging American designers
succeed in the business of fashion by providing
ongoing support."
