The Basics of
your Life
As
we muddle through our "recession," clothing
that evokes our mythological belief in a simpler
past becomes more and more attractive. In
recognition of fashion's "return to value,"
fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger sent a clean traditional
line of clothing down the runway in his Fall Winter
2009 Fashion Show. The clothes were keepers - traditional
duds that are the building blocks of a well dressed
man or woman's wardrobe.
Of particular note
where the soft jerseys used to create a Hollywood-in-the
fifties look in the women's line. Also of note was
the short skimpy cut of the men's suit jackets which
reminded me of a prep school boy who shows up a
family party in last year's slightly outgrown suit
- a fun choice for men who are not quite ready to
shop at Brooks Brothers.
I also liked the
outback hats.
