Supima sponsored their very own Project Runway style design contest last fall. According to the press release, it began at the, "...Thompson Hotel. The panel of judges [met] with and reviewed sketch books, portfolios and garments and selected 25 to 30 finalists. These designers were given top quality Supima fabric with which to create an original eveningwear piece, within six weeks. Between the Open Call and then final runway presentation on January 14th, the designers met the panel one more time for consultations, to meet their models and to hold fittings."

The designs were judged by a panel of judges:

* Patrick Groenendaal, VP Design / Creative Director, Hampshire Group
* Glen Hoffs, Men’s Design Director, Brooks Brothers
* David Leung teaches design at Parsons and at the Kent State Program
* Lisa Santandrea, teaches fashion history at Parsons and has a fellowship at the Metropolitan Museum Costume Institute
* Tim Yap, Fashion Editor, Sportswear International
* Hitha Prabhakar, Fashion Editor, Stylist

Twenty five contestants were picked to show their designs at a fashion show at New York's Gotham Hall.
