New York Amory Art
Week had many fairs to cover so New York Cool photographer,
Daniel Perry, and I (Rene Levy-Abdo) did our best
to cover a variety of shows.
Scope Art Fair
We started with SCOPE
First View on March 4, 2009 at 62nd and Amsterdam.
Sure to expectations, SCOPE exhibited the best selections
of contemporary art from across the globe, featuring
all mediums of art even some performance art. SCOPE
was abuzz with collectors who were seemingly unfazed
by the recession.
VOLTA at the Amory
was a more themed and curated show. The show was
located in the 7W building, making it more intimate
and less tedious than the larger fairs. Humble Arts
Foundation launched their book “Collectors
Guide to Art Photography” in the VIP area
of VOLTA. Aperture foundation held a Brunch on Saturday
morning featuring the photography exhibit, Intended
Consequences: Rwandan Children Born of Rape.

Bridge Art Fair
The Bridge
Art Fair, housed in the former Tunnel night club,
was also intimate. PULSE On pier 40 was one of the
larger fairs. It was laden with various installations
and featured a VIP area overlooking the Hudson River.
