Kenley
Collins Collection at Forte Fashion Show
Kenley Collins, famous
for her sassy attitude on Project Runway,
created a spring collection inspired by the iconic
aviator, Amelia Earhart. Collin's designs featured
stripes and deep blues, creating a sophisticated
nautical look with a bold contrast. Using her signature
1940’s aesthetic, many of her designs paid
close attention to the shoulder with the help of
some exaggeration, and square-shouldered jackets.
Sweetheart necklines kept the collection young and
flirty while smaller collars and attention to details
polished the clothes for a more classic and tailored
look. Luckily this collection didn’t end the
same way as Amelia Earhart.

Daniel Field and Stella Zotis
Two other Project Runway
designers attended the Forte Fashion Show: Stella
Zotis, famous for her love of all things leather,
and Daniel Feld both attended to the show's beneficiary,
Gilda Club, a support community for people living
with cancer. Gilda’s Club benefited from the
show, receiving the proceeds, donations the money
raised by the silent auction.

Elizabeth
Rynish showed off her colorful new designs at the
Forte Fashion Show. Using her signature fabrics
inspired by her own innovative prints, she shows
the relationships between colors and how they flow
together. This collection featured vibrant swirly
marble prints while modernizing the 60’s mod
looks by adding small futuristic elements and shapely
necklines. Bold and chunky accessories were paired
up with her designs breaking up the prints while
adding another color splash into the mix. Short
hems and painterly pieces are a must for the lively
woman who has an appreciation for both art and fashion.

Lace details, neutral colors,
and straps made of beads and chain were all featured
in Sheila Franks Spring`10 collection at the Forte
Fashion Show. Her Elizabethan-inspired designs were
paired with modern aesthetics and would appeal to
women of different shapes and sizes. Skinny belts
paired with loose fitting garments kept the focus
on the waistline. This subdued collection might
have lacked both color and drama, but not innovation.
Straps made of lace and chain created an edgy contrast
to her more romantic pieces, serving both as accessories
and functional components to her designs.

Marissa Erskine, the last designer
featured at the Forte Fashion Show, created a spring
collection filled with exaggerated cocoon, butterfly,
and tulip silhouettes. Her color palette mostly
consisted of gold, pink, black, and a few mint green
pieces. Most enjoyable about this collection were
the petal like textures and shiny fabrics. Erskine
also designed braided knit accessory pieces, which
sparkled in the light, providing the classic element
of glamour. The most dramatic piece, which seemed
to be the crowd favorite, was the curvy black mermaid
dress with a raised back, which was the final look
in her collection. Using basic themes in sculpture,
volume and texture, Marissa Erskine takes us to
the next season.
