For Fall 2010, Malan
Breton took us on a magical trip to India in the
time of the British Protectorate. The show was fueled
by the spirit of Bollywood with appearances by one
of Malan's muse's Zuleka Emerson Dove-Hatch and
the SA Dance Company. The audience was also treated
to American Idols Anoop Desia's premiere of his
new single, "My Name" and the appearance
of The Real Housewives of New York City's Countess
LuAnn de Lesseps. It wasn't just fashion, it was
theater.
Breton has stated
that his inspiration was the Indian saree. He interpreted
his vision with scrumptious silks and beautifully
draped cashmeres. Breton is not afraid of color;
he utilized a palette of Venetian red, Pyrite, Saffron,
and his signature Breton Blue. There were peacocks
walking the runway with brilliant poppycock colors
for both women and men.
Here is a quote from the
press release for the show: "This seasons collection
was dedicated to the organization Care and Share
India (www.careshareindia.org)
and the tremendous work they do for the children
of India. A special gown from the collection will
be auctioned to benefit Care & Share India,
stay tuned for more details."
The show was presented by
Style 360, Toni and Guy, and Sephora.
