Partnership
with Children hosted their Eighth Annual Autumn
Wine and Food Tasting, "A Taste of the Good
Life, " at the Prince George Ballroom at
15 East 27th Street in New York City on October
8, 2010. This year's chefs were: Daniel of Eardley
of Chestnut; Ivy Stark of Dos Caminos; Matt Weingarten
of Inside Park; George McKirdy of Astory; Kotlyar
of Sprig: Eric Hara of the Oak Room; And Sir John
Wincroft, smoked salmon specialist. The wines
were selected by Daniel Posner of Grapes: The
Wine Company.
This years event
included a silent auction featuring exclusive
items including a James Beard dinner for six,
a Chelsea Art Gallery Tour, and VIP tickets to
The Daily Show. $125,000 was raised at the event
to help the Partnership with their work with our
city's at-need children.
Michelle
Sidrane, Partnership with Children's Executive
Director, spoke to the crowd and said, “I
am pleased that during such difficult economic
times, people are still willing to invest in our
City’s most valuable resource – children.”
Partnership With Children, Inc (www.partnershipwithchildrennyc.org)
is a 501(C)(3) not-for-profit organization that
was founded in 1908 as Big Sisters. Its mission
is to strengthen the emotional, social and cognitive
skills of at-risk children so that they can succeed
in school, in society and in their lives. Through
Open Heart-Open Mind, its school-based program,
teams of full-time social workers are permanently
placed in inner city schools to provide comprehensive
to children at high risk for academic failure
and their families, teachers and school staff.
