Narcisco Rodriguez's
career was launched when his good friend, Carolyn
Bessette, asked him to design her wedding dress
for her marriage to John F. Kennedy Jr.at the First
African Baptist Church on Cumberland Island back
in September 21, 1996. The elegant photo of her
standing on the steps of the chapel, wearing Rodriguez's
simple, elegant and sexy style was seen around the
world and jump started Rodriguez's career.
Flash forward to
September 2010 when Narcisco Rodriguez was named
Presents Designer for Mercedes Benz Spring/Summer
2011 Fashion Week. When announcing the selection,
Fern Mallis, SVP Mercedes Benz Fashion Week said,
"Narcisco Rodriguez is a perfect choice to
be the Mercedes-Benz Presents designer as his clothes
are designed and executed with the same precision,
structure and attention to detail as a Mercedes-Benz."
For Spring 2011,
Rodriguez presented a collection of timeless elegant
designs. The dresses were simple, beautifully constructed
and feminine. Rodriguez utilized a color palette
of mostly neutrals to create his ethereal designs.
The collection is perfect for the Uma Thurman's
of the world - tall slim elegant women with an eye
for quality and simplicity.
Celebrity guests at the show included
Claire Danes, Emily Rosum and
Jessica Alba.
