Malan Breton took
his inspiration from ancient Japan when he created
his collection for Fall of 2011. Malan has always
been known for sophisticated proper clothing, but
this year he mixed it up - throwing in bustiers,
net skirting and some plunging necklines. This "mixing
up" gave the collection a much younger and
trendier vibe.
As always, Malan's
collection was created in a neutral palette with
rich jewel tones for the accents. The fabrics were
rich silks.
Malan is one of the
few Fashion Week designers who also designs for
men (they are half of the population). Malan created
suits that were well bred, but trendy enough to
dazzle at an opening at one of Chelsea's famed art
galleries.
