Once again, Sally Lapointe
has created a successful and forward fashion collection.
Inspired by the chemistry processes in dark rooms
for film photography, Lapointe explored the relationships
between photographic prints and fabric, liquid textures
and colors reflective of the photography process.
As the models strutted their way around the gallery
space, video projections of liquid chemistry was
projected onto the models. Dark room tanks filled
with liquids lit up by red light bulbs took us back
to her inspiration sources. Lapointe continued with
her pseudo cyber goth aesthetics with a refined
flare. Boxy shoulders, architectural detailing combined
with elegant drapery played on the boundaries between
hard and soft. It is refreshing to see a successful
avant-garde designer hitting the ground running.
Style icons such as Lady Gaga have been spotted
sporting some of Lapointe's collection pieces.
