The Burma Ball
was held at New York's legendary Friar's Club
on September 19, 2011. The loosely titled "Ball"
(really a cocktail party) was held to benefit
Burmese refugee boys living at the New Blood Migrant
School in Mae Sot, Thailand, on Burma’s
border. The proceeds from the event were to help
build a boy's dormitory at the school, the girl's
dormitory already being in process.
The event was co-hosted by best selling author
Naomi Wolf, Academy Award nominated filmmaker
Morgan Spurlock, and acclaimed actor and activist
Esai Morales.
