Toi's genius lies in creating important clothing
for important people who are going somewhere important.
His collection for Spring/Summer 2012 was beautifully
made and punctuated with exclamation marks.
Toi titled his show,
"My dream of North Africa," and first
down the catwalk was a magnificent taupe jumpsuit
topped by a glamorous floor length coat bordered
in gold leaf. That was it; we were in Africa.
Toi's last two shows
have been tight - colored from a palette of neutrals
with splash of dramatic color (this season it was
a sapphire blue) and created from swaths of luxurious
silks and light wools. Toi's designs are timeless,
classic beauties created for the world's luxury
market.
The last model down
the runway was Toi's friend, Kirstie Alley. Alley
walked down the runway in style - her hair swept
up in a 1960's style beehive and her svelte body
clad in a bejeweled sapphire blue silk coat. She
looked amazing, darling, simply amazing.
