I got the press release and thought, “Wow,
a psychic is going to conjure up enough people to fill
ARS Nova?” ARS Nova, in case you don’t know,
is a 99 seats theater way over on the west side of Manhattan
at 511 West 54th Street. It is a cool (and new) space
that features hot acts such as Sarah Silverman and Karen
Black.
My curiosity was peaked (was I being
psychically summoned?) so I called and made a reservation
to attend the show. When I arrived, the place was packed
and everyone was in a party mood. Many of the audience
members seemed to know each other and probably knew Pattie.
I also noticed how incredibly well-dressed
everyone was. When you attend a theatrical performance
in New York City, it is not uncommon to be seated next
to someone who looks like they have just washed their
car. So consulting a psychic must pay off, I thought,
or at least pay off enough so you can shop at Bloomingdales.
Or perhaps these ladies and the few gentlemen in attendance
simply received their psychic summons while shopping
on the Miracle Mile in Manhasset.
And “someone” had selected
really great music - music that evoked the 60’s – Aretha,
Dylan, etc. I was definitely in the mood to have fun.
Then the show started. Ms Canova appeared
dressed in a marvelous flowing velvet “hostess
set,” low cut enough to display the blue flower
tattooed on her left breast. Pattie is a consummate show
woman – very funny with great bits about things
like the relationship between psychic and psychotic and
not becoming the M in S&M. She is also appeared to
be very warm and to genuinely care about the people in
her audience.
And then we played the game. Pattie
told us that everyone had a Tarot card under their seat
and for us to retrieve it and then ask our questions.
Well, quite a commotion ensued. None of us could find
our cards without a lot of carrying on. Needless to say,
the only psychic seems to have been on the stage.
But cards were eventually found and
people began asking their questions. And as Pattie says,
they are always variations of the same two questions:
Am I going to be all right and will I ever find my soul
mate? Fortunately for most of the audience, the answer,
supplied by Pattie with the help of the “found” cards,
seems to be yes. You will be all right and you will eventually
find your soul mate.
I did not ask my question during the
show. I had a very strange card (The Hermit) so I was
worried that I might be exception – the only one
who would not be all right and not find a soul mate.
So afterwards I emailed Pattie some questions.
Here they are: My questions and Pattie’s
answers.
Wendy: First (we are www.newyorkcool.com
after all), where did you get that marvelous velvet
outfit?
Pattie: The coat was a loaner, everything
else was mine.
Wendy: Do the painted velvet flowers
on your outfit match your tattoo?
Pattie: No, only in that they are both
color accessorized and seem to get along fabulously.
The design on the coat was a peacock and a crescent moon
with a ribbon of rainbow and shooting starts...all symbolic,
you know.
Wendy: What do you think is
the future for hair color now that both grandmothers
and twenty-something rockers are spouting blue hair?
Pattie: I think you’ve answered your own question here. Most Grand mammas
like myself are still youthful boomers so we’re still out there and as
we’re once removed generationally from the up and comers, we ‘get
them’… so blue hair, pink hair, as along as the elders have hair
and the “young’uns” know how to play.
Wendy: Please
look at the contact us list on www.newyorkcool.com.
After you have looked, please note that none of us
are married.
Pattie: And your question is? Actually it should follow a declarative statement
of whether or not any of you are really looking for an in depth commitment
at this time. It is inherent within the human journey to connect with another
on some level.
It seems like there is a great deal of “loud” and necessary expression
going on with your crew. Would have liked them to come and energize the show
a bit more.
For all of you: The soul is clear – it’s
the travel upon a different road at this time that rings
out to me. But I suspect this is a partially a trick
question. I’m thinking one of you is on the cusp
of a full blown “in love” session.
Wendy: Is there hope for
us?
Pattie: Of course.
Wendy: I did not ask a question
at your show, but the card under my seat was The Hermit
(yikes!).
Pattie: An alone time for right now
- ask yourself for the truth behind your solo journey
at this time. Seek only the truth - much like Diogenes
- it is where seeds are planted that are not ready to
bloom. It is just not the season. Who is the Virgo in
your life?
