On Saturday, November 20th, Bar
M15 (a hot, hip, off-the-beaten-path Manhattan
venue) hosted its first Fresh Produce #1 - a live
compilation featuring some of New York city’s
biggest and best upcoming stars.
The first act out was guitarist
Carmen Chiles backed by her three member band:
Mark Albright (Saxophone), Lawrence Chiles (Bass
Guitar) and Nate Lavoie (drums - incredible chops).
The beauteous Carmen's heart warming voice and
her chemistry with her band clued us in that this
bands has traveled many miles together. They're
tight, and they're here. So get on their E-mailing
list at Kelles82@hotmail.com, so you'll be in know

Esco |
Next was hip hop rapper and poet,
the cooly dressed Esco, who gave us his smoothly
lyrical, yet poignant perspective as he rapped about
how every man is out for himself. With New York
flava to back it, Esco reached heights of rhythm
with his beats about how every man is really looking
for that special someone. Defiantly smooth, Esco
is a man with a mission and a sure invite for Fresh
Produce #2. You can find out more about Esco by
emailing RAinDazedEnt@aol.com.
Hitting it next and in awesome
form, was our man Spec Boogie. Spec hit the stage,
showing us that he demands respect in the house.
You can't get away from his magical rolls - its
rhyme to reason with Spec. He wants you to know
how he’s feeling right now, today. Fast and
furious, Spec gave us his secret edition
of “Sneaker Pimp”. A throw down man with class, that's Spec
Boogie. You can check Spec out at: www.specboogie.com
Then on the stage came the lovely
and sensual, Malayzia. Her entrancing voice and
soulful beats left the M15 audience in awe. This
fresh, bright and new voice has got "time." Her
stage presence drew the crowd closer to the edge,
letting us know "what women want." Malayzia,
remember the name and prepare yourself people.

Nonameko |
Nonameko had just arrived in
town the night before, flying in from the west
coast. Hot off the plane or not, Nonameko blew
the house away. This soft spoken beauty, surprised
us all with an incredible scat performance. Her
high pitch, tongue twirling crescendos of start
and stops left us with our jaws dropping. With
heads a boppin and hands in the air, we held on
and on as she took us higher and higher. Check
out her website at www.nonameko.com and
her music

And then it happened, Che Grand
came to the stage. Virginia had arrived. This talented
Rap artist started the war to end all wars. This
twenty minute set shook the house. It was inevitable
- everyone gave him his props. You gotta give it
up to a guy who throws down the establishment, the
barriers, the war, the women, the life and the politics
of today. Loudly creating an art form of rap music
so gut wrenching that it overtakes your senses and
prepares you for your next reality. Check out his
upcoming cd “CONCEPTUS OPUS” in 2005.

Tanya Morgan, who knew? This trio
of nicely attired rappers (the soulful brothers?)
had an audience of women three rows deep. The rapped
lyrical love songs of "Who's the man?"
and how life would be with just you and me. These
guys made you sweat. A definite in for Fresh Produce#2.

Toward the end of the night,
the promoter, George Gomez ( a.k.a. Dj Filthy)

us is such an untapped resource of wealth, it took
us forever to pull this collaboration of musical
artists together for tonight's performance. But
here we are tonight and tonight we see a future
for a Fresh Produce #2." You can check out
