Serge Bozon’s LA FRANCE (July 11-17)
NYC theatrical premiere run of Serge Bozon’s acclaimed WWI folk-musical.

Aditya Assarat’s WONDERFUL TOWN (July 18-24)
NYC theatrical premiere run of the moody and delicate Thai romantic drama.

Nicolas Philibert’s BACK TO NORMANDY and René Allio’s I, PIERRE RIVIÈRE… (July 25-31)
The NYC theatrical premiere run of French documentarian Nicolas Philibert’s new film about the making of René Allio’s I, PIERRE RIVIÈRE… (1976), a little-known masterpiece which will be screening nightly as well.

John Gianvito’s PROFIT MOTIVE AND THE WHISPERING WIND (August 1-7)
The NYC theatrical premiere run of Gianvito’s beautiful visual meditation on the progressive history of the United States.

Eric Rohmer’s THE ROMANCE OF ASTREA AND CELADON (August 14-20)
The NYC theatrical premiere run of Rohmer’s latest film, an eccentric and highly personal period-piece set in 5th-century Gaul.

RETROSPECTIVES:

Mary Ellen Bute (July 19-20)
Two programs of films by the pioneer of visual music and electronic art, including her rarely-screened feature film, PASSAGES FROM FINNEGANS WAKE.

Delineating Borders: The Films of Jesse Lerner (July 25-27)
A weekend of films by the filmmaker, writer and curator Jesse Lerner, whose films address topics such as Mexican-American cultural relations and the geographical/emotional entanglements inherent in the border.

Swimming Upstream: The Films of the Dardenne Brothers (August 7-10)
A retrospective of films by the Dardenne brothers, who since the mid-nineties have been crafting one of contemporary cinema’s most accomplished bodies of work.

Remembering Arthur Lipsett (August 15-17)
A weekend devoted to the acclaimed Canadian experimental filmmaker, including a new documentary about his life and work.

The Best of Laurel and Hardy (September 3-5)
A weekend devoted to the brilliant comedy duo.

The Films of Jerry Schatzberg (September 5-11)
An extensive retrospective devoted to this key figure of seventies American filmmaking, with Schatzberg in-person on opening night!

The Films of Vojtech Jasny (September 19-25)
A selection of films by the Czech New Wave pioneer, Vojtech Jasny, with Jasny in-person on opening night!

A Sharits Brothers Fourth of July (July 5-6)
Two programs, one devoted to Paul Sharits’s DECLARATIVE MODE and one to the rarely-screened work of Greg Sharits.

George Manupelli’s CRY DR. CHICAGO (August 9-10)
Two screenings of the second installment in the DR. CHICAGO series.

Robert Downey: A Prince (September 12-18)
Three newly-preserved films by the unpredictable underground filmmaker, Robert Downey, as well as the recently recovered MOMENT TO MOMENT.

Goethe-Institut New York Presents (July 10, August 14, September 4)
Our ongoing collaboration with the Goethe-Institut New York, with one movie every month selected from the Institut’s film catalogue.

Korea on Film (July 24, August 21, September 25)
Anthology hosts Korean Cultural Service with once-a-month screenings of classic and contemporary South Korean cinema.

Classics from Kino International (July 31-August 3)
Anthology presents a weekend of classic films from the collection of Kino International: brand-new 35mm prints of Sergei Paradjanov’s visionary SHADOWS OF OUR FORGOTTEN ANCESTORS and two of Chaplin’s finest, CITY LIGHTS and THE GREAT DICTATOR, plus a pair of Tarkovsky masterpieces.

New York City Vigilantes (August 21-24)
Anthology offers a chance to channel the pent-up frustrations of high-summer with some of the finest NYC vigilante films ever made, including MS. 45, DEATH WISH and MANIAC COP.

1, 2, 4, 8… Unessential Cinema: Numerical Madness with America’s Foremost Film Collectors (September 18-21)
For the fourth consecutive year, film collectors Skip Elsheimer, Stephen Parr and Greg Pierce join with Anthology’s archival staff for a full-throttle weekend of unadulterated cinematic excess.

A Tribute to Paul Arthur (July 23)
Anthology hosts a tribute to the scholar, critic, teacher and filmmaker Paul Arthur, who passed away this spring.

Catching Up with the Kuchars (August 8)
The latest installment of Anthology’s ongoing series spotlighting recent video works and classic 16mm productions by our favorite twin titans of the underground, George and Mike Kuchar.

D.W. Griffith – 100 Years Later (August 23-24)
Two programs celebrating the 100th anniversary of Griffith’s first film.

All Circuits On Presents: Dr. Videovich (September 11)
A program devoted to the work of the cable-TV pioneer Jaime Davidovich who, as Dr. Videovich, hosted the 1970s weekly variety program THE LIVE! SHOW.

Who Do You Think You Are and What Do You Think These Little Films Can Do: Films by Mary Filippo (September 27)
Work by Mary Filippo, whose compact, concisely constructed body of short films is a true treasure-trove.

The Films of Dean Snider (September 28)
Films by the San Francisco filmmaker Dean Snider, whose subversive stance and sardonic sense of humor enlivened his varied, quixotic films and real-life antics.
