File Under: Classic Rock, Tribute
Doors at 6:00pm, Show at 8:00pm

Show Biz Kids are committed to creating a
faithful, live performance reproduction of
one of America’s most sophisticated
and durable musical icons: Steely Dan. The
band consists of experienced studio and live
performance musicians, seasoned veterans of
the “show biz” scene. The name
is as much of a sardonic nod to the 150 collective
years of playing experience the band has as
it is to the SD song of the same name.

INDIGENOUS
File Under: Blues, Native American
NB: Tickets on Sale May 6
Doors at 6:00pm, Show at 8:00pm
$17.50 adv, $20 at door
Though the name "Indigenous" reflects
frontman Mato Nanji's heritage as a member
of the Nakota tribe, on Chasing the Sun he
sounds more like a member of the tribe of
Stevie Ray Vaughan. The songs are strong,
the singing soulful, and the guitar playing
striking. Whereas Indigenous earlier featured
Nanji fronting a family band, these days he
pretty much is Indigenous (though sidemen
still include his bassist brother Pte). The
opening "Runaway" channels so much
of Vaughan's signature style that listeners
might well mistake it for Stevie Ray, though
the album ultimately extends its range to
encompass the Allmanesque balladry of "Come
on Home" and the bluesy twist given Bob
Dylan's closing "Born in Time."

THE JOSHUA TREE – A Tribute to U2
THE X&Y PROJECT – A Tribute to COLDPLAY
A CEG Production
File Under: Rock, Tribute
NB: SRO
Doors at 11:00pm, Show at 11:30pm
$10 adv, $12 at door
As Boston’s premier tribute to U2, The
Joshua Tree pride themselves with their ability
to generate a unique musical experience that
does not lend itself to impersonations. Without
compromising artistic integrity, the band
has gone to great lengths to reproduce the
distinct sound of one of the world’s
most popular rock bands. Unique to The Joshua
Tree is their dedication to the entire U2
songbook, including early fan favorites from
the 1980-1987 period (Boy, October, War, The
Unforgettable Fire, and The Joshua Tree).
THE X&Y PROJECT is the brainchild of Nick
Swan, a New York City based recording artist.
This project is a tribute to Coldplay, though
it is my hope that this music will be appreciated
by both hardcore fans of the band and non-fans
alike.

LUKA BLOOM
File Under: Singer/Songwriter, Irish
Doors at 6:00pm, Show at 8:00pm
$25 adv, $28 at door
The younger brother of influential Irish singer/songwriter
Christy Moore, Barry Moore had tired of being
in his brother's shadow when he decided to
relocate to the United States in 1987. Re-christening
himself Luka Bloom during the long airplane
ride, he took the first steps toward establishing
his own reputation. A master interpreter,
Bloom has continued to balance original songs
with reinventions of tunes by a diverse range
of songwriters. His reworking of LL Cool J's
"I Need Love" transformed the song
from its hip-hop origins to a brogue-inflected
folk tune.

WISHBONE ASH
File Under: Classic Rock, Folk, British
Doors at 6:00pm, Show at 8:00pm
$25
Formed in October 1969, Wishbone Ash®
was gigging by 1970. The band garnered notice
in the early days for a unique blend of blues,
jazz and English folk. But it was the way
the guitars played melodic leads together
that would become Wishbone Ash’s trademark,
inspiring such bands as Thin Lizzy and Iron
Maiden. Throughout the years, many notable
musicians have contributed their talents to
the band, including Asia’s John Wetton,
Trevor Bolder from Uriah Heep and Laurie Wisefield,
who would later play guitar for Joe Cocker
and Tina Turner. Late in 2004, founding guitarist
Andy Powell, bassist Bob Skeat and drummer
Ray Weston were joined by Finnish guitar slinger
Muddy Manninen, who replaced fellow Finn Ben
Granfelt. Wishbone Ash introduced Manninen
to a receptive crowd at the annual UK AshCon
in October, and US fans came out to get a
look at the new guitar duo in action on a
late fall tour.

Presented with Comic Relief: Benefiting Gulf
Coast musicians, dancers and singers affected

File Under: Theater, Comedy, Benefit

Tony Clifton was discovered by the legendary
comedian Andy Kaufman in 1969, while performing
in a seedy lounge in Las Vegas, Nevada. Kaufman
was immediately mesmerized and signed Clifton
to open for him on several occasions, most
notably his historic "Carnegie Hall Concert".
In the 80's, Mr. Clifton appeared numerous
times on such shows as David Letterman, Merv
Griffin, and Dinah Shore. He was a favorite
of Jim Henson and appeared on "The Miss
Piggy Special." Rodney Dangerfield hired
Tony to open for him at Bill Graham's world
famous Fillmore in San Francisco. After Kaufman's
untimely departure, Clifton made a miraculous
appearance at The Comedy Store in Los Angeles
on May 16, 1985 - one year to the day after
Kaufman's death. Over the next few years,
he disappeared, with only the occasional "sighting"
reported. After a brief appearance on "The
Jimmy Kimmel Show," in 2004, followed
by a one night "sold out" performance
at LA's House of Blues, Tony has been incommunicado...
until now! Kaufman's protégé
is back with "The Return of Tony Clifton",
making it possible for audiences all across
the country to witness this legendary performer
in the flesh.

in excessive Sratocaster abuse on his down-time
between TSO tours, and keyboardist Paul Morris
(Rainbow) lays down the virtuosic Hammond
B-3 licks that are the hallmark of the DP
sound. Keeping it all together is powerhouse
drummer Mike Sorrentino (Blackmore's Night),
who along with Greg and Paul, have played
with the man himself in versions of Rainbow

an authentic purple hue

NB: Tickets on Sale July 22 – SRO
Doors at 6:00pm, Show at 8:00pm
$17 adv, $20 at door
Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers (RCPM) are
proof that the crazy, reckless, restless,
swaggering soul of American rock is still
burning a hole in the night sky...guitars
blaze, quake and quiver, drums slip, thud
and thunder with killer melodies and hooks
and the occasional reggae or mariachi rhythm
laced through the middle to keep it all honest
and interesting (Tom Jurek, Paste Magazine).
With the conception of its first ever "VivaCast",
the white-hot foursome has successfully pioneered
a revolutionary new way to create music and
put their fans directly in the recording engineer's
seat with a voyeur view. The stunning result
is captured on the new CD/DVD, Turbo Ocho,
which chronicles the amazing creative process
of producing 8 new songs in 8 days. Each song

When he broke on the national scene in 1957
with his classic "Whole Lotta Shakin'
Goin' On," he was every parents' worst
nightmare perfectly realized: a long, blonde-haired
Southerner who played the piano and sang with
uncontrolled fury and abandon, while simultaneously
reveling in his own sexuality. Jerry Lee's
follow-up to "Shakin'" was another
defining moment for his career, as well as
for rock & roll. "Great Balls of
Fire" featured only piano and drums,
but sounded huge with Phillips' production
behind it. It got him into a rock & roll
movie (Jamboree) and his fame was spreading
to such a degree that Johnny Cash and Carl
Perkins left Sun to go to Columbia Records.
His next single, "Breathless," had
a promotional tie-in with Dick Clark's Saturday
night Bandstand show, making it three hits
in a row for the newcomer. He returned to
the charts in the late 60s with a string of
top ten country hits including "Another
Time, Another Place" and "What Made
Milwaukee Famous (Has Made A Loser Out of
Me)". The next ten years saw him turning
out more than a dozen best selling singles.
But the mid-'80s saw another jump start to
his career. A movie entitled Great Balls of
Fire was about to be made of his life and
Lewis was called in to sing the songs for
the soundtrack. Showing everyone who was the
real Killer, Lewis sounded energetic enough
to make you believe it was 1957 all over again
with the pilot light of inspiration still
burning bright.
