Ms. Royal is one of the driving forces behind the construction of an exact replica of Lafayette's ship, The Hermione. The Hermione has now been built and will make its maiden voyage in the summer of 2015, sailing to the United States from France making landfall at Yorktown and then proceeding up the coast to Mount Vernon, Alexandria/Washington DC., Annapolis, Baltimore, Philadelphia, New York City, Greenport, Newport, Castine, Maine, and then on to Lunenburg, Nova Scotia before heading home to France. And every time the ship docks, there will be celebrations to honor both the replication of the Hermione and Franco/American friendship.

Friends of Hermione - Lafayette in America will host a black tie benefit on October 14 at The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum. The evening will honor Dr. Henry Kissinger, Ms. Christine Lagarde, and Mr. Charlie Rose. Click here for more details.

Guests at the reception included Fernanda Capobianco, Hillary Cooper, Dovile Drizyte, Francis G. Dubois, Dee Dee Eustace, Mrs. and Mrs. Jonathan Farkas, Remi Forgeas, Bruno Fulda, Catherine Godbille, Elbrun Kimmelman, John Kluge, Patricia Kluge and Williams Moses, Inga Kozel, Helen Maclsaac and Eric Kuhn, Carola Mack, Daniel Morel, Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser, Pascale Richards and Nick Millard, David Lincoln Ross, Charlotte Sarkozy, Elena Stephanoupolus, Tracy Stern, Rachel Tashjian, and Miles Young, President of Friends of Hermione - Lafayette in America.

Small Replica of The Hermione

About The Hermione Project: Twenty years ago a small group of visionaries met together in France and imagined reconstructing an exact replica of The Hermione, the French frigate that carried the young Lafayette to General Washington, pledging French support for the American insurgents. The result turned the tide of the American Revolution. As the year-on-year reconstruction became a regional, now national, attraction in Rochefort, the idea grew to recreate Lafayette's voyage on The Hermione with a historic return to the iconic port cities of the American Revolution, celebrating and reaffirming the historical relationship between the United States and France.
